Philosophers' Cafe: Life the Universe, and Everything Tuesdays For those who have mastered communication in English, the next step is to flex the mind in new and different directions, and to practice articulating these new thoughts in a friendly but challenging environment. The Philosophers’ Cafe will start with a story drawn from the world’s folk traditions, continue with a guided discussion of the ideas in that story, and—it is hoped—develop into an animated free-for-all exchange between the participants. For high-intermediate and advanced speakers. TIME: All meetings begin at 7 p.m. After more than one hour of organized activities, we will open up for Question and Answer and Free Conversation, finishing at 9 p.m. DISCUSSION LEADER: James will be leading all of these lessons and discussions. He holds a dual Bachelor degree in English and philosophy, as well as a Master of Education degree, and is nearing completion of a PhD. He has been a teacher and trainer since 1981. In that time he has taught in three countries, and his students have included everyone from Kindergarten kids to presidents of multinational corporations. He is currently a professor of English at Shenzhen Polytechnic, and has led hundreds of workshops, salons, classes, and private lessons in Shenzhen since February of 2004.
