Welcome to the "Survival Kit" for Shenzhen Expats!

Despite the comments of Lonely Planet ("Most travellers give the place a wide berth") and others, Shenzhen and its surrounding offer a wealth of opportunities to explore Chinese culture. We will chronicle such opportunities here.

Each heading below offers links to off-site resources or entries in the LIFESiZE blog. More Shenzhen information can be found by checking the LIFESiZE Homepage. If you are a regular visitor to LIFESiZE, your best bet is just to check the blog occasionally.

Hong Kong: The Shenzhen expat's playground has a lot to offer, with better interpretation of sites into English. We will be adding much to this in the future; until then, check this out:

The Antiquities and Monuments Office has a list of Declared Monuments and descriptions of excellent Heritage Trails. The clickable map on the Declared Monuments page leads to pages and pages of information on these fascinating places; clicking the graphics on the Heritage Trails page provides access to maps and descriptions of the three trails. The pamphlet versions of much of this information can be ordered by mail or picked up in the Office on Nathan Road in Kowloon.
